Project Description
English Vintage Antique Gateleg Table, C 1680.
This is a lovely early English oak gateleg table, dating from around 1680, built during the reign of Charles II.
The top has drop leaves, which make it extremely practical, as it can be stored against a wall when not in use, taking up an extremely small footprint. When the leaves are raised and supported by the gatelegs, it will seat 6 people comfortably, or 8 people a little more intimately.
The leaves are attached by hand forged butterfly hinges and the base has good quality clean turnings, with stretchers all round, giving a good solid rigidity to the base. There is a drawer in one end which is useful for storing, table mats or cutlery.
This is a good quality yet beautifully rustic, early table.
Dimensions: 137 (54″) l x 119 (47″) w x 74 (29″) h. When the leaves are down 46 (18″) width.
Price: £ 650.00.
