Vintage Oak refectory table with H stretchers, drawer and matching benches.

A  substantial Oak Refectory table, with H stretchers and a drawer in the end. This table also has a pair of matching benches also in oak.

This piece originating from the Normandy region of France, was built in the first part of the 20th century. The top is made up of planks of oak, which are 4.5 cm ( 1 3/4″) in thickness and are clamped together with long cast steel bolts, running through the top. The base has end stretchers, with a centre stretcher, giving an H stretcher configuration, making the whole extremely sturdy.

The benches were built at the same time to go with the table, the tops being 4 cm ( 1 1/2″) in thickness, sitting on A frame legs, with a centre stretcher, making these equally as sturdy as the table. they fit neatly between the legs of the table.

Al in all a lovelly solid table, which would fit in either a dining or kitchen environment and would make it’s own statement.

Benches: 247 l x 20 w x 46 h cm. 8’1″ x 8″ x 18″.
