Wildwood Antiques - French and English Country Furniture

Wildwood Antiques has been restoring Antique French Furniture since 1978. In a converted barn on Manor Farm, Heyshott, Nr Midhurst, West Sussex, we renovate Antique French Country Furniture obtained from frequent visits to French fairs and country sales. Bruce Sedgwick, our proprietor travels widely throughout France from Provence in the South to Brittany in the North searching for the choicest Country Style French Antiques many of which come from farmhouses in these areas.

Wildwood Antique French Country Furniture includes all the well known woods: ash, oak, beech, pine, cherry and walnut. Each piece of furniture is carefully checked and where necessary restored. After restoration it is then treated against any possible insect infestation and then hand finished in order to maximise the true beauty of each piece.

The inspiration for French Country Furniture comes from the landscape and heritage of the French provinces such as Provence, Normandy, Brittany, Isle de France and Val de Loire and the style resonates with the atmospheric palettes of the French impressionist painters like Cezanne, Monet , Manet, Matisse and Van Gogh. Terracotta reds contrast with cobalt blue and deep woodland green and bright sunflower yellows.

The West Sussex countryside colours are quieter with our temperate climate and frequent cloudy days. Bruce’s workshop barn with its Downs view is, nevertheless, a true complement to Antique French Country Furniture with its vibrancy, rich textures and beautiful lines. We like to encourage our customers to visit the workshop and showroom,  in order to experience the beauty of each piece.

Wildwood has a good selection of country furniture, which frequently changes. We specialise in farmhouse and dining tables, made from a variety of timbers and in differing styles, along with chairs and benches to match.
