French Antique Cherry Gueridon, Tilt Top Table
French antique “GUERIDON “, meaning a pedestal table. Originating from the Brittany region of France, C 1830. This simple yet stylish table, has beautiful lines. The vase turning to the pedestal, along with the bracketed tripod feet, give a sense of elegance without being over ornate.
The feet are dovetailed into the centre pedestal and are braced by a set of hand forged straps, giving a good solid base to the top. The top pivots on two turned spigots which are housed in the cross braces, which also gives rigidity to the circular top, the whole is held in place by a hand forged spring catch.
A delightful, useful and elegant piece.
