Project Description

French Antique Style Centre Extending Table with Drop in leaves

Built using  traditional methods, this style of French centre extending table originates from the beginning of the 19th century and was utilized right up to the beginning of the 20th century and can still be found to this day.

The two leaves sit snugly under the top, in carriages, so when not in use are tucked out of the way. Both the leaves of this French  style centre extending table, drop onto the base, slot into each other using tongue and groove joints, so when extended, they are level with the top, so as to give a totally level extended surface. Either one or both of the leaves can be inserted, in order to give another 2 or 4 place settings, or more if wider leaves are introduced. The whole top is clamped together using brass table forks, in order to stop possible movement.

Custom dimensions, timber and style of leg, can be incorporated in order to meet a customers specific requirements.
